Vyacheslav Taran: Helicopter Crash Over Monaco
Russian crypto billionaire killed in a helicopter crash near Monaco in clear weather.

Vyacheslav Taran was a 53-year-old Russian crypto entrepreneur and co-founder of Libertex, one of Europe's largest online trading platforms. On November 25, 2022, his helicopter crashed in the mountains near Villefranche-sur-Mer, between Nice and Monaco in the south of France. He was killed along with the pilot.
The crash occurred in clear weather conditions, which immediately raised questions. Another passenger had reportedly cancelled at the last minute. French investigators examined the wreckage but no public conclusion was reached regarding the cause.
Taran's death came during a period when multiple Russian businessmen were dying in suspicious circumstances, many with reported connections to intelligence services or sensitive financial operations. Whether his death fit this pattern or was genuinely accidental has never been established.
His business operations spanned fintech, crypto trading, and online education. Libertex had offices across Europe and served millions of clients. The company continued operations after his death, but the circumstances ensured that questions would linger.
