Founder's Message

I started CMZ because nobody was telling the full story.

Crypto media is broken. Half the industry publishes press releases disguised as journalism. The other half runs on clickbait and panic. Nobody sits down and says: here is exactly what happened, who did it, how much was stolen, were they caught, and what it means. The facts. The numbers. The human cost. The dark comedy of an industry that keeps making the same mistakes and calling them innovation.

I wanted to build something different. A place where every hack, crash, rug pull, and scandal is documented with the specificity and attitude it deserves. Not sanitized. Not dramatized. Just told straight, the way you would tell it to a friend who asked: wait, what actually happened?

CMZ now has 296 in-depth investigations across 15 sections. We document $8.14 billion stolen in 72 crypto hacks, dozens of criminal cases, the complete Bitcoin timeline from the whitepaper to the Strategic Reserve, and every dead narrative the industry tried to sell you. Each piece is researched, sourced from court documents and on-chain data, and written to be something you actually want to read.

The mission is simple. Crypto history is being written right now. Someone needs to document it properly. That is what CMZ does, and this is what I do full time.

This is just the beginning. CMZ will become the definitive record of everything that has happened in this industry - the consequential, the criminal, and the spectacularly stupid.

About Usman

Usman spent his career in communications and communications security, working with computers and cryptology. In 2024 he was awarded the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan.

He writes every article on Crypto Media Zone. He also founded Ascent Index, a record of every climber, summit and attempt on the world's fourteen 8,000-metre peaks.
